“You
don't just watch this movie, you live it”
- Peter Travers
Life of Pi is a Hollywood movie
directed by Ang Lee made in Indian context, based on a book written
by Yan Martel. It narrates to us the story of a boy named after a french swimming pool, who gets caught
in a storm along with a tiger on a life boat and survives it because of his tenacity.
The movie throughout seems to be an
Indian cinema shot in English. This feeling may be attributed to
Indian actors, easily understandable dialect, simple dialogues and
of-course the emotions it arouses in ones heart.

Life of Pi is not only technically
strong, but also artistically. The casting and direction are
definitely commendable. The 3D effect in the movie shows how
beautiful technology will be when blended with art. The young Pi
faces the sea in its roughest forms and also in its most breathtaking
beauty. The movie involves us so much that, we feel that we are being
a witness to a real life going on. Suraj sharma who plays this role
shows all the emotions with such an ease!
What else can one expect from a
movie but to be entertained; And Life of Pi fulfills this expectation
fully. It allows you to just sit back, relax and take in the vastness
of the ocean, brightness of the sun, the clear blue skies and the
miracles of nature.
One last word must be said about the
lullaby that plays in the background at the start and end of the
movie. Never mind the lyrics, you may not understand them but the
tune and the tone lingers in your head for sometime after you come
out of the cinema!
Go watch the movie, if you want to
have a two and half hours of good entertainment and some refreshing
memories to take back after those 150 min come to an end.
